Promising agencies with fewer than 10 reviews

Too few reviews to be scored reliably yet, but excellent ratings so far.

Other B2B branding agencies you will see in other rankings

Several names come up again and again in rankings published elsewhere. Those below have a Sortlist profile but fewer than 10 verified reviews, so we could not score them with the same method; descriptions summarise how each agency presents itself or how those rankings describe it.

  • PitchKitchen (New York) – A B2B marketing and messaging agency that regularly appears in B2B branding round-ups.
  • Ignyte (San Diego) – A brand agency often cited for B2B and healthcare branding.
  • MetaLab (Vancouver) – A product design agency known for designing interfaces for technology companies.
  • Eloqwnt – A digital agency cited in several B2B agency lists.

We could not find a Sortlist profile for Clay, Focus Lab, Mission Control, Siegel+Gale, Lippincott, Monigle, Anomaly or Bop Design, which also appear in other rankings. Without verified reviews on Sortlist, we cannot compare them fairly with the agencies above.

How we ranked the agencies

1. The sample

Sortlist lists 1,228 B2B branding providers worldwide. We evaluated the 220 agencies on the first three pages of Sortlist’s B2B branding listing, in its relevance order. 136 of them have at least 10 verified client reviews – our threshold for a rating to be meaningful. 4 of those also pay for a sponsored placement and were set aside, leaving 132 agencies from 22 countries, with 2,464 verified reviews between them and an average rating of 4.90.

2. The score

Scoring criteria
CriterionWeightHow it is measured
Client rating50%Average of verified reviews, placed on a scale from the lowest (4.38) to the highest (5.0) rating in the ranked group
Review volume30%Number of verified reviews on a logarithmic scale, up to the most reviewed agency (59 reviews)
Published work20%B2B branding projects published on Sortlist, on the same logarithmic scale, up to the highest count (18 projects)

3. Independence

  • Sortlist is a marketplace, not an agency: it does not appear in its own ranking.
  • Agencies cannot pay to enter the ranking or to move up. Agencies with a sponsored placement on this listing are excluded from scoring and shown separately.
  • The order of the listing page, subscriptions and badges play no part in the score – only the three criteria above.

4. Limits

Reviews reflect each agency’s work across all its services, and agencies with few reviews may be excellent but are not yet scored. That is why every entry says what it is best for – and when another agency would suit you better. The ranking is updated regularly.

What is B2B branding?

B2B branding is the work of defining and expressing how a company that sells to other businesses is perceived by its buyers, partners, investors and future employees. It covers the positioning, the messages, the visual and verbal identity, and every touchpoint where a prospect meets the company – from the website and LinkedIn to sales decks, proposals, trade-show stands and onboarding documents.

The goal is not only to be recognised. In B2B, a strong brand shortens the path to the shortlist: buyers research on their own long before they speak to sales, and they tend to contact suppliers they already know and trust. A clear brand also gives the sales team a consistent story and helps justify a price premium against cheaper competitors.

“Rational” does not mean “boring”. Business buyers are people too: they are worried about choosing the wrong supplier, about their reputation inside the company and about the effort a change will require. The best B2B brands address that emotional risk as clearly as the technical specifications.

What a B2B branding agency does

A B2B branding agency turns what a company knows about its market into a brand that buyers understand quickly and remember. Most engagements follow the same arc, whatever the size of the project:

  1. 1

    Research and audit

Interviews with customers, lost prospects, sales and leadership; competitor and category analysis; audit of the existing brand, website and sales material.

  2. 2

    Positioning and value proposition

The category you compete in, the accounts you serve best, the problem you solve, why you are different and the proof behind it.

  3. 3

    Messaging by buyer role

Key messages for each member of the buying group – the user, the manager who owns the budget, finance, IT, procurement – with proof points for each.

  4. 4

    Brand architecture and naming

How the company, its product lines, services and acquisitions relate to each other, and names for new offers when needed.

  5. 5

    Visual and verbal identity

Logo, colours, typography, imagery, iconography and tone of voice that work in complex documents as well as on a homepage.

  6. 6

    Activation and enablement

Website, sales deck, proposal templates, case-study format, trade-show material, guidelines and training for sales and marketing teams.

Some agencies stop at strategy and identity; others carry the brand into the website and lead-generation campaigns. On Sortlist you can also compare specialists in corporate branding, brand identity and B2B marketing.

What should I look for in a B2B branding agency?

Look for an agency that understands how businesses buy, not only how brands look. Six signals separate a genuine B2B branding partner from a design studio that occasionally works for companies:

Published B2B work

Case studies for companies with long sales cycles and several decision-makers – ideally in your sector or a neighbouring one.

A research method

Interviews with your customers, lost deals and sales team before any recommendation – not only a workshop with the management team.

Messaging for the buying group

An approach that gives each decision-maker – user, budget owner, finance, IT, procurement – reasons to say yes.

Sales enablement

Deliverables your sales team will use daily: pitch deck, proposal templates, case-study format, objection handling.

Verified client feedback

Reviews and references that describe how the agency handled complex stakeholders, feedback rounds and deadlines.

A link to business results

Clear ideas on how the brand will be measured – shortlist rate, win rate, sales-cycle length, price premium – not only awareness.

What to look for in a B2B branding agency: a quick checklist

  • Can they explain your product to a non-specialist after one meeting?
  • Have they worked with a buying group like yours – industrial buyers, IT departments, procurement, partners?
  • Who will actually run the workshops and write the positioning: senior strategists or junior designers?
  • Does the proposal include customer research, or only internal workshops?
  • Will the outputs work in sales decks, proposals and technical documents, not only on a homepage?
  • Do you own the names, files and trademarks at the end of the project?

Red flags

  • A logo proposal before anyone has spoken to your customers
  • A portfolio made only of consumer brands, restaurants or fashion
  • No plan for how sales will use the new brand
  • Vague pricing with no phases or decision points
  • Promises of awareness with no link to pipeline or win rate

Which B2B tech agency handles branding?

Software, SaaS and deep-tech companies face a specific branding problem: the product is complex, changes every quarter and is bought by people who are not always the ones using it. In our ranking, these agencies combine branding with the skills tech companies usually need next:

  • The Branx – a start-up branding agency in Cádiz that turns complex technology into scalable brands for AI and SaaS companies, from seed to Series B: positioning and messaging, identity, web and illustration design, motion graphics and explainer videos (5.0 from 11 reviews).
  • VALMAX – web design, UI/UX and development for B2B and SaaS companies, from Chicago, built around structure, user clarity and a visual style that reinforces the product’s value (5.0 from 13 reviews).
  • Creative Mules – a strategic design partner in Amsterdam that designs the brand together with customer-focused digital product experiences (5.0 from 29 reviews).
  • HAKI – brand, website, content and funnels designed and run around LTV:CAC, for founders and growth managers (4.89 from 30 reviews).
  • RSXigital – a Chicago B2B performance marketing agency connecting Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, B2B SEO, AI search visibility, landing pages and CRM reporting, once the brand is in place (5.0 from 21 reviews).

What tech companies should ask for

Branding needs of B2B tech companies
StageMain brand needTypical deliverables
Pre-seed to seedExplain the product in one sentencePositioning, name check, simple identity, landing page
Series ALook credible to larger buyers and investorsMessaging framework, full identity, website, sales deck
Series B and laterStay coherent as products and markets multiplyBrand architecture, design system, guidelines, employer brand
After an acquisitionMerge two brands without losing customersResearch, architecture decision, migration plan

For tech companies, the website and the product interface are often the most-seen brand touchpoints. Ask whether the agency can deliver a design system that your product and marketing teams can maintain without it.

B2B branding by sector

The fundamentals do not change from one industry to another, but the emphasis does. Here is where B2B branding effort usually pays off most:

Industry and manufacturing

Buyers compare technical specifications, reliability and service. The brand must translate engineering strengths into business benefits and be consistent across catalogues, trade fairs and distributors. Partout works on complex, long purchasing processes for clients such as VDL, ABB and Eurofins.

Software and SaaS

The challenge is clarity: one sentence that explains the product, and messaging for both users and budget owners. See the tech agencies above.

Professional services

Consulting, legal, finance and engineering firms sell expertise. The brand rests on people, points of view and thought leadership – and on making many partners speak with one voice.

Start-ups and scale-ups in transition

A launch, a pivot, a fundraising round or a new market are the moments a B2B brand most often needs work. CONCRETE specialises in B2B brands in transition.

Associations and mission-driven organisations

Members, funders and partners need to trust the organisation’s impact. GALOPINS counts Fondation des Femmes and Surfrider Foundation Europe among its clients.

International B2B

Several markets mean several languages and buying cultures. Check the agency’s languages and its experience with local adaptation before you sign.

Corporate and employer branding in B2B

In B2B, the company brand often is the product brand, and it also has to attract scarce talent. Corporate branding covers how the company presents itself to investors, partners and the press; employer branding covers how it attracts and keeps people. A good B2B branding agency keeps both consistent with the customer-facing brand rather than building three different stories.

How much does B2B branding cost?

Among the 132 ranked B2B branding agencies on Sortlist, 65 start at €1,000, 16 accept projects below that, 6 start between €1,001 and €2,999, and 45 set their minimum at €3,000 or more. The entry point says little about the final price: the scope of the project matters far more.

What drives the price of a B2B branding project

  • Research: a few internal workshops cost far less than interviews with customers, lost prospects and partners in several countries.
  • Buying group: each additional audience – users, managers, finance, IT, procurement, partners – needs its own messages and proof.
  • Brand architecture: one company brand is simpler than a portfolio of products, subsidiaries or acquired brands.
  • Activation: the website, sales deck, proposal templates and trade-show material often cost more than the identity itself.
  • Markets and languages: every country adds translation, testing and adaptation.

How agencies price B2B branding

B2B branding pricing models
ModelHow it worksGood for
Fixed-price projectA defined scope and list of deliverables for one feeA new brand, a rebrand or a launch
Workshop or sprintOne to a few intensive sessions with a short outputStart-ups, or testing the agency before a larger project
Phased engagementResearch, strategy, identity and rollout approved one by oneLarger companies with several decision-makers
RetainerOngoing brand, content and design support after launchCompanies that publish, launch or exhibit often

Ask every agency for the same breakdown – research, strategy, identity, activation – so you compare like with like, and keep a reserve for what comes after the launch: a brand only works if it is applied consistently.

How do I choose a B2B branding agency?

Choose in six steps, and involve the people who will live with the brand – sales, marketing and leadership – from the start:

  1. 1

    Name the trigger

A launch, a new market, a merger, an outdated image that loses deals, a fundraising round – the trigger defines the scope and the deadline.

  2. 2

Set a budget range and a timeline

Include the activation work – website, sales material, trade fairs – not only the strategy and the logo.

  3. 3

    Write a one-page brief

Your market, best customers, competitors, buying group, what works today, what does not, and what you expect at the end.

  4. 4

Build a shortlist of three to five agencies

Compare ratings, reviews and published B2B work in the ranking above, or post your project for free on Sortlist and receive proposals from matching agencies.

  5. 5

Meet them with the same questions

Ask how they would research your buyers, who would work on your account, and show you a comparable B2B case from brief to result.

  6. 6

    Contract in phases

Agree on deliverables, decision points, timing and ownership of names, files and trademarks before you start.

Questions to ask in the first meeting

  • Which B2B clients with a similar buying process have you worked with, and what changed for them?
  • How will you involve our customers and our sales team in the research?
  • What will our sales team receive at the end of the project?
  • How do you decide between evolving our current brand and starting again?
  • How will we measure whether the new brand works?

Most B2B companies combine both: an agency to define the positioning, identity and guidelines, and an in-house team to apply them every day. Plan the handover – templates, guidelines and training – as part of the agency’s scope.

How to measure a B2B brand

Brand effects in B2B take time, so measure a baseline before the project and compare after six and twelve months. Useful indicators combine perception and sales data:

Frequently asked questions

How long does a B2B branding project take?

A positioning sprint can take a few weeks. A full project with research, positioning, messaging and identity usually takes three to six months, and rolling the brand out to the website, sales material and events can take longer. Decision points agreed in advance keep approvals from stalling the project.

Should we rebrand or refresh our B2B brand?

Refresh when the positioning is still right but the identity looks dated or inconsistent. Rebrand when the company has changed – new markets, new offer, a merger – and the current brand tells the wrong story. Research with customers usually shows which situation you are in.

Does a small B2B company need a branding agency?

Not always for a full programme. A small company can start with a short positioning workshop, a simple identity and a clear website, then invest more when it enters new markets or goes after larger accounts.

Can a B2B brand be emotional?

Yes. Business buyers worry about risk, their reputation and the effort of change. Brands that address confidence, simplicity and partnership – backed by proof – are often more persuasive than brands that list features.

How do I find a B2B branding agency on Sortlist?

Compare agencies by rating, number of reviews, published B2B branding projects, budget and languages, then shortlist three to five and ask each the same questions. You can also post your project for free and get matched with qualified agencies.
