Promising agencies with fewer than 10 reviews

These agencies have too few reviews to be scored reliably yet, but earned excellent ratings so far.

Other lead generation companies you will see in other rankings

Several names come up again and again in lead generation rankings published elsewhere. We looked for each of them on Sortlist. Those below have a profile, but fewer than 10 verified reviews, so we could not score them with the same method. Descriptions summarise each agency’s own profile.

  • Belkins – Presents itself as an award-winning B2B sales agency working with businesses in 50+ industries.
  • CIENCE (Denver) – Offers multi-channel prospecting: targeted research, lead generation and outbound processes that produce qualified appointments.
  • Martal Group (Oakville) – Provides an on-demand, outsourced B2B sales and lead generation team for tech companies.
  • SalesRoads (Coral Springs) – Specialises in B2B appointment setting and mentions a money-back guarantee on its profile.
  • LevelUp Leads (Lafayette) – Runs outbound email, LinkedIn and cold-call campaigns for small and mid-sized companies, including pay-per-meeting services.
  • Intero Digital (Colorado Springs) – Is a full-funnel digital marketing agency with roots in SEO and SEM.
  • Pearl Lemon Leads (London) – Offers B2B lead generation across LinkedIn, Facebook, Quora and cold email.

We could not find a Sortlist profile for Callbox, Leadium, Upgrow, Operatix, Sopro, SalesAR, LeadGenius, Abstrakt Marketing Group or Straight North, which also appear in other rankings. Without verified reviews on Sortlist, we cannot compare them fairly with the agencies above.

How we ranked the agencies

1. The sample

Sortlist lists 9,552 lead generation providers worldwide. We evaluated the 219 agencies on the first three pages of Sortlist’s lead generation listing, in its relevance order. 119 of them have at least 10 verified client reviews – our threshold for a rating to be meaningful. 6 of those also pay for a sponsored placement and were set aside, leaving 113 agencies from 22 countries, with 2,397 verified reviews between them and an average rating of 4.91.

2. The score

Each agency gets a score out of 100, calculated the same way for everyone:

CriterionWeightHow it is measured
Client rating50%Average of verified reviews, placed on a scale from the lowest (4.11) to the highest (5.0) rating in the ranked group
Review volume30%Number of verified reviews on a logarithmic scale, up to the most reviewed agency (85 reviews): the 10th review counts more than the 80th
Published work20%Case studies published on Sortlist, on the same logarithmic scale, up to the highest count (14 projects)

3. Independence

  • Sortlist is a marketplace, not an agency: it does not appear in its own ranking.
  • Agencies cannot pay to enter the ranking or to move up. Agencies with a sponsored placement are excluded from scoring.
  • The order of the listing page, subscriptions and badges play no part in the score – only the three criteria above.

4. Limits

Reviews reflect each agency’s work across all its services, not lead generation alone, and agencies with few reviews may be excellent but are not yet scored. That is why every entry says what it is best for – and when another agency would suit you better. The ranking is updated regularly.

What is a lead generation agency?

A lead generation agency finds and qualifies potential customers for your sales team. It works out who is most likely to buy, reaches those people through the right channels, captures their contact details or a meeting request, and hands over leads that match criteria you agreed on together. The goal is simple: your salespeople spend their time on conversations with interested buyers instead of prospecting.

Lead generation sits between marketing and sales. Marketing agencies often stop at traffic or brand awareness; sales outsourcing firms often start at the meeting. A lead generation agency is judged on what happens in between – the number of qualified leads, how many turn into opportunities and what each one costs. Most combine several of these approaches:

Inbound lead generation

SEO, content, webinars and landing pages that bring prospects to you when they are already looking for a solution. Slower to build, but leads keep coming once it works. See inbound lead generation agencies.

Outbound prospecting

Cold email, calling and LinkedIn outreach to a defined list of target accounts, often with appointment setting. Fast to start and well suited to B2B. See outbound marketing agencies.

Paid acquisition

Google, Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok Ads optimised for form fills, quote requests and demo bookings, where budget buys speed. See performance marketing agencies.

Account-based and B2B programmes

Long sales cycles with several decision-makers call for targeted campaigns, lead nurturing and close work with sales. See B2B lead generation agencies.

Most B2B companies end up combining both: outbound to open doors quickly, inbound and paid to capture demand that already exists. Agencies such as Growth Room or REROW run both in the same team.

How lead generation agencies work, step by step

Methods differ, but a solid lead generation engagement almost always follows the same stages. Knowing them helps you compare proposals and spot the agencies that skip steps.

  1. 1

    Define the ideal customer

Industry, company size, region, the role of the buyer and the problem you solve. A precise ideal customer profile is the single biggest driver of lead quality.

  2. 2

Agree on what a lead is

A newsletter sign-up, a marketing-qualified lead and a booked sales meeting are very different things. Write the definition down, with the fields and criteria that make a lead acceptable to your sales team.

  3. 3

Build the data and the message

Target account lists, contact data and buying signals on one side; value proposition, offers and messages for each segment on the other.

  4. 4

    Launch on a few channels

Good agencies start with two or three channels, test messages and audiences, and cut what does not work before scaling what does.

  5. 5

    Qualify and hand over

Leads are scored or checked against the agreed criteria, then passed to sales through the CRM with the context of each conversation.

  6. 6

    Report and improve

Weekly or monthly reporting on leads, conversion to opportunities and cost per qualified lead, followed by changes to targeting, messages and budget.

How much should you pay for lead generation?

Among the 113 ranked agencies, 67 start at €1,000, 19 accept smaller projects and 23 set their minimum at €3,000 or more. The entry point says little about the final bill, though: what you pay depends on the channels, the volume and quality of leads you expect and the pricing model.

The main pricing models

Lead generation pricing models

Monthly retainerA fixed monthly fee for a team and a scope of workOngoing programmes across several channelsUnclear deliverables – ask for monthly targets
Pay per leadYou pay for each lead that meets the agreed definitionClear, high-volume offersLead quality – the definition must be strict

Project feeA fixed price for a defined project, such as a campaign launch or a funnelTesting an agency or a new channelWhat happens after the project ends
HybridA lower fixed fee plus a bonus tied to resultsSharing risk with the agencyHow results are measured and attributed

What drives the cost up or down

  • Channels: ad spend comes on top of agency fees for paid campaigns, while SEO and content cost more upfront and less per lead over time.
  • How qualified the leads must be: a booked meeting with a decision-maker costs more to produce than a content download.
  • Markets and languages: each additional country or language adds data, messages, content and follow-up.
  • Commitment: some agencies lower the entry risk with short test periods and no annual lock-in – ask for it when you compare proposals.

The KPIs that matter in lead generation

Clicks and impressions are not lead generation results. Agree on a short list of indicators before the first campaign, and make sure the agency reports on them.

In-house team or lead generation agency?

Hiring a lead generation agency is not the only option. The right choice depends on your volume, your budget and how much know-how you want to keep inside the company.

In-house team versus lead generation agency
In-house teamAgency
Time to startHiring and onboarding take monthsCampaigns can start within weeks
SkillsLimited to the people you hireSpecialists for data, copy, ads and tools
Tools and dataYou buy and manage themOften included or shared
Knowledge of your productDeep, and it stays in-houseNeeds onboarding and close contact
FlexibilityFixed headcountScale up or down with the contract
Best whenLead generation is a permanent, core functionYou need to test channels or grow fast

Many companies use both: an agency to launch and test channels, then an in-house team to take over what works. If you choose that route, ask the agency from day one to document its playbooks and to run campaigns in accounts that belong to you.

Lead generation by industry

The right mix of channels depends heavily on how your buyers decide. A few patterns come back across industries:

SaaS and software

Long sales cycles and several decision-makers favour account-based programmes, outbound and paid LinkedIn. In the ranking, Reux Digital, InterTeam Marketing and REROW focus on this segment.

Industrial and manufacturing

Buyers research technical specifications before they talk to sales, so search visibility, product content and export-ready multilingual websites matter as much as campaigns.

Professional services

Trust decides: case studies, thought-leadership content and referrals convert better than aggressive outreach. Expect longer nurturing.

E-commerce and consumer brands

Lead generation often means capturing email or SMS subscribers and quote requests through paid social and search. Started Agency works with e-commerce and lead generation businesses.

Healthcare and local services

Appointment requests and local visibility are the goal: local SEO, reviews, search ads and landing pages built to book appointments.

How to choose the right lead generation agency

Questions to ask in the first call

  1. How do you define a qualified lead, and who validates it – you or our sales team?
  2. Which channels would you start with for our market, and why?
  3. How long before the first leads, and what should we expect after three months?
  4. Which accounts, data and ad accounts stay ours if we stop working together?
  5. Can you show a similar project in our industry or with a similar sales cycle?
  6. Who will work on our account day to day, and how senior are they?

Briefing checklist

  • Describe your ideal customer: industry, company size, role of the buyer
  • Set a monthly lead target and the value of a new customer
  • List the markets and languages you want to cover
  • Share what you already tried and what it produced
  • Decide who follows up on leads, and how fast
  • Fix a budget range, including ad spend

Red flags

  • Guaranteed lead numbers before the agency knows your market or your offer.
  • No written definition of what counts as a lead.
  • Campaigns run from accounts and tools you will never own.
  • Reporting limited to clicks, opens and impressions.
  • Long contracts with no test period or exit clause.
  • Promises of results in days for long B2B sales cycles.

The first 90 days with a lead generation agency

Most disappointments with lead generation agencies come from mismatched expectations in the first weeks. A typical, healthy start looks like this:

Weeks 1–2: onboarding

The agency learns your offer, customers and sales process. You agree on the ideal customer profile, the lead definition, the channels to test and how leads reach sales. Access to your CRM, ad accounts and analytics is set up in your name.

Weeks 3–6: first tests

Campaigns go live on a limited number of channels and audiences. Expect learning rather than volume: which messages get replies, which audiences convert, which leads your sales team accepts. Weekly check-ins keep feedback short.

Weeks 7–12: scale what works

Budget and effort move to the channels and segments that produce accepted leads. Reporting shifts from activity to results – qualified leads, opportunities and cost per qualified lead – and both sides decide whether to extend, adjust or stop.

Your part matters as much as the agency’s: fast feedback on lead quality, quick follow-up by sales and one person on your side who owns the relationship. Slow sales follow-up is one of the easiest ways to waste good leads.

Frequently asked questions

How long does lead generation take to deliver results?

Outbound and paid campaigns can produce first conversations within a few weeks once targeting and messages are set. Inbound channels such as SEO and content usually take several months to build momentum. For long B2B sales cycles, judge a programme on qualified pipeline after about three months rather than on closed deals.

Do lead generation agencies guarantee results?

Some do, through pay-per-lead or pay-per-meeting pricing, or a money-back guarantee – SalesRoads, for example, mentions one on its Sortlist profile. A guarantee is only as good as the lead definition behind it, so check what counts as a qualified lead before signing.

What is the difference between lead generation and demand generation?

Demand generation creates interest in a problem and your solution, often before buyers are ready to talk. Lead generation turns that interest into identified contacts or meetings for sales. Agencies such as Dapper describe themselves as demand agencies; most lead generation programmes need a bit of both.

Is it worth outsourcing lead generation?

It is worth it when you need results faster than you can hire, want to test channels before building a team, or lack specialist skills in data, copywriting or paid media. It is less useful if you cannot follow up quickly on leads – an agency can fill the pipeline, but your sales team still has to close.

Can one agency generate leads in several countries and languages?

Yes, but check it in practice: languages spoken by the team, experience in each market and local data sources. In this ranking, agencies such as Promoguy.nl (six languages) and TSB Commercial (Arabic, English and French) work across several markets.

How do I find the right lead generation agency on Sortlist?

Compare agencies by rating, number of reviews, budget, languages and published work, then shortlist three to five and ask each the same questions about lead definition, channels and timelines. You can also post your project for free and get matched with qualified providers.
